To date, the iPod Nano has reached it’s fifth product of it’s line; and people are specuating if it’ll outshine the Apple iPod’s past Nano models or fail to meet expectations. Looking back to the first generation, then called, ‘iPod Mini’ in 2004 to the most recent one to date, 4th generation Nano. From then to now, they’ve all had changes that made them stood out from one another.
In 2004, the first iPod mini of it’s kind was released in late January. It was the heaviest and first iPod with a button scroll wheel with 8 hours of battery life.
In 2005, another iPod was introduced, going with the new name, ‘iPod Nano First generation’; it came in 2 or 4 GB with choices of two colors, it was stainless steel and was much thinner with a 16-bit screen that the iPod Mini never had.
A year later, the 2nd generation came out with features that included a lifespan of 24 hours and a 4GB as cheap as the first generation Nano; it was scratch resistant with it’s aluminum body in place of it’s stainless steel material before it.
In 2007, a new and modern looking iPod Nano model was realased by Apple. It was shorter and squarer than the rest, this revolutionary iPod Nano the third generation of it’s kind had the largest and best quality screen so far and it’s features for scrolling.
On September 9th, the most recent iPod Nano was released on the MP3 market, it was dubbed the 4th generation of it’s kind, calling it the iPod Chromatic. It held the record for the largest variety of colors and largest capcity for the iPod Nano. It was also the first to have a feature to be displayed upright when you flip it at 90 degrees copying it’ s cellphone brother, the iPhone.
In my personal opinion, this would be my favoirte model; mainly because it is obviously different to all the other ones before it. Though the features the square iPod Nano has is great for movie lovers, mucis listeners, and photographer’s alike; not all enjoy itIt’s sleek body and vibrant screen appeals my needs for an MP3. But each has their own preference in their choice of iPods; some prefer a bulker body with the ablitiy to play music compared to a creditcard thin ipod with features that remain useless to them.
From 2004 to this past September 9th, the iPod Minis, now iPod Nanos have come and progressed a long way from it’s orginal grayscale bulk body to a thin aluminum body in an array of colors that can be read upright at all 90 degree rotations; Apple iPod Nanos will continue to realase new models that wil either amaze us with it’s body design and the features it hold or fail to impress us thinking they’ve gone out of hand with the extra gears and gadgets.
